Welcome!

Thank you for coming to share in the unique attractions of our Central Kentucky Bluegrass! While you are here, We hope you are able to take time to not only see the beautiful natural wonders of the region but partake of the many local attractions and businesses that make this area of the Commonwealth so distinctive.

Begin your introduction to the Bluegrass by experiencing the namesake of the region. The exclusive blue hue that tints the fields of the Bluegrass can be seen throughout the area, from the pastures that line stonewalled rural roads to the rolling hills and meadows of horse farms that populate it. The Bluegrass is home to more than 400 horse farms, as well as many public riding stables and hands-on opportunities for those interested in saddling-up.

The regions commitment to the historic horse industry has earned it the honor of hosting the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian games, where equestrians the world over will be able to come experience the welcoming faces of not only the Bluegrass Region but our state on the whole.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast looking to see matchless sites, any season is the perfect time to visit the Bluegrass. In the spring and summer, visit one of the many marinas in the area for a relaxing cool down or enjoy the warmth of the sun at one of our magnificent parks. In the fall, make sure to catch a glimpse of the foliage along one of the hundreds of miles of striking trails across the region. In the winter, a driving tour along one of the many scenic routes can be the perfect remedy for the cold weather blues.

The Bluegrass Region truly offers something for everyone - from the world-renowned Kentucky Artisan Center for those who are patrons of arts and crafts; distinctly Bluegrass food and beverages at many of our local eateries and along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail; to historically poignant sites such as Perryville Battlefield and Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

We invite you on behalf of the Commonwealth to experience the sights and sounds of this one-of-a-kind locale, where the charms and touches of rural life are met with excitement and energy of an ever-growing region.

Sincerely,

Eli Mertens
